You can't tell in this picture but on Thursday there were over 1500 kids in Lexington Center all dressed up and looking for candy. I set up a table outside of the studio and handed out thousands of pieces of candy. It was pretty awesome. What was even better was all the interest in the studio and its opening in December. And no I did not just pick up a random child, fortunately my friends have kids to spare, so it usually leaves one or two for me to hold. They are the future of the studio afterall! I only wish I had chosen a more mainstreamed candy, but instead I had too many options and at the end had only tongue tattoos and may have said "they are tongue tattoos you stick them on your tongue and it leaves a picture, and yes you can eat it" 2000 times.
While I was there there was lots of work being done to the studio. The paint is up and it looks awesome. Although one little boy said "whats up with the garage?!" Pretty funny kid but its open concept!
Here is where the changing stations will be going eventually.
A look at the space from the changing area. The floor is done this weekend and EVERYTHING is set to be done on Tuesday!!! I am so thankful to everyone that has been doing work there. It looks fantastic and I can't wait to really get in there!!
To address a few questions from the other day.
Is pilates like yoga? Perhaps some types of pilates are, but SPX is NOT like yoga. It is done on a suped up machine called the Megaformer and will transform your body.I can assure you it is unlike anything you have ever done before. The only way to understand it is to get on a machine.
Is it just for women? This is not your grandma's pilates! Guys will get just as much of a benefit if not more than women, but they may be afraid to be embarrassed by the chics in the class...Because of the different spring loads you can make it as easy or as difficult as you want. As you get more comfortable and start building strength you can modify each move so that you are constantly challenging yourself.
Can I bring my kids? Unfortunately this is not the type of workout that you would want your children to participate in. Because the machine moves it would not be safe to have children around.
What kind of hours will you be offering? The first few months there will be fewer classes BUT the more you come the more classes we can have! The plan is to have classes starting at 6am and going pretty much through the day until about 8pm. We will be taking recommendations as to what hours are most convenient for our clients. So speak up and talk to us! We will listen!
What kind of packages will you have? There will be plenty of introductory specials and the first class is only $5! There will be packages for just about everybody. You can either by a package of say 5, 10 or 20 classes. Prices will vary depending on the package you buy. Monthly unlimited packages will be available as well as monthly packages where you can use it 2 times or 3 times per week. Depending on which package you buy you can workout for as cheap as $15 a class! I dare you to try to get on a machine for just $15! (typically its about $70 an hour to get on a machine)
When will you be open? We should be up and running mid December but will be looking for lots of guinea pigs during training. If you are interested in coming in for free and letting us practice on you then please contact me: bostonpilatesplus@gmail.com
The website is almost finished but until then you can always contact me at anytime to ask questions via email:

For now enjoy your candy, you will have plenty of time to work it off in December!
